ABOUT MINAGIE ENERGY
WE ARE FOCUSED ON PROVIDING CLEAN
AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME
"NGATI MPHEPO, YOFIKA KONSE"
which translates to “God is as the wind, which touches everything”; Chiwetel Ejiofor ‘s movie from 2019, “The boy who harnessed the wind” was where it all began. A true story of William, a 13-year-old boy who is thrown out of the school he loves when his family can no longer afford the fees. He sneaks into the library and learns how to build a windmill to save his village from a famine. These were William’s exact words on one of the many occasions he was being honored; “After I drop out from school, I went to library. And I read a book titled, ” Using Energy” and I get information about wind mill, and I try and I made it.”
This inspirational story is one of the many pillars on which MINAGIE ENERGY was birthed in January 2022. ‘MINAGIE’ represents Dominance. A dominance over circumstances beyond our control which hinder independence. In our case, Energy Independence through Wind Power. That we were not born to wait for the wind to bring rain, but to master it, to harness it and make it do what we need to benefit Ghana, Africa and the World at large.
COMMUNITY RELEVANCE
Despite the fact that energy is the engine of civilization, nowadays access to adequate and affordable sources is not equally distributed on the planet. Its presence is strongly and constantly intertwined with economic and social development: as a result, poorer regions are those usually equipped with the worst energy services, which contribute to malnourishment, unhealthy living conditions and limited access to education and employment.
With the current energy crisis in Africa, the question of energy poverty has become a burning issue requesting a prompt and systemic approach in addressing it. As of 2020, the number of people without access to electricity in Ghana stood at 4.39 million, with a majority emanating from the 3 Northern Regions of Ghana. In response, we are developing a renewable energy solution that will raise the electricity access rates in these energy poor regions significantly by making Ghanaians pay zero money for our product’s installation and maintenance; a direct tie in to the African Union’s AGENDA 2063, towards Social and Economic Development in Africa. To complement that, our renewable energy solution tackles socio-economic limitations with regards to good health and wellbeing (SDG 3) through its Carbon Capture functionality. Its ability to suck Green House Gases and VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) out of the sky, tackles air pollution and its debilitating impact on Climate Change (SDG 13). Our goal is to make electricity so affordable (SDG 7) and Africa safer, not only for this current generation, but also for those yet to be born.
OUR 4 WHY's
1
To reduce Energy Poverty in Africa through our wind turbine systems
2
To contribute in the fight against Climate Change by reducing the Carbon Footprint in areas of installation
3
To reduce the number of deaths caused by Air Pollution through Decarbonization Cannisters in our wind turbines
4
To improve livelihoods in Rural Communities by the clean air devoid of pollutants our wind turbines release back into the atmosphere after sucking in polluted air
